Doctors warn States should not reduce covid restrictions at 70% vaccination until all over 60 year olds have access to Pfizer.
"No state should reduce covid restrictions or open up until all over 60 year olds are given access to the Pfizer vaccine even if there is 70% vaccinated because the elderly are much more vulnerable to dying from covid"said Dr Robert Marr GP and Vice President Doctors Reform Society NSW (DRS)
The NSW Doctors Reform Societry (DRS) today supported calls by the South Sydney GPs association representing over 1000 GP practices for all over 60s to be able to receive the Pfizer vaccine immediately before states are opened.
""It is not acceptable that elderly Australians frightened of taking Astra Zeneca vaccine are being admitted to ICUs and some dying of covid because they trusted Mr Morrisons and the Federal Health Ministers Mr Hunts promise ,in may, that they could wait for Pfizer because there would be enough Pfizer and Moderna vaccine for everyone by september"said Dr Con Costa President of NSW Doctors Reform Society
"States must not open up in any way even if 70% are vaccinated before the over 60s have access to pfizer otherwise thousands of elderly Australians will catch covid and some may die.All over 60 year olds must immediately be given access to Pfizer otherwise more people will die from covid unneccessarily ."said Dr Robert Marr GP and Vice President of DRS NSW.
