Babies born in 2022 and living in our Shire are eligible to join Dolly Parton's highly successful and long running book gifting project, the Imagination Library program.

Kempsey Shire Library is partnering with United Way Australia and NSW Health to support this program in our local area. The Imagination Library enables every newborn child in our Shire to receive a free age-appropriate book delivered to their home every month, until they are 5 years old.

Initiated by Dolly Parton over 20-years ago, the Imagination Library has seen over 160 million books delivered to children in the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia. Designed to connect parents and children through a love of reading, the library project has a proven track record of improving literacy rates and launching children on a lifelong journey of reading, learning and discovery.

Special thanks to the hardworking and book-loving Child and Family Health Nurses at Kempsey District Hospital who are providing new parents the opportunity to join the program.
