Don't Bin It, Basket It: Exchange For Change Is Here

Recycling will be made easier across Campbelltown's public spaces with the introduction of the 'Exchange for Change' bin baskets as part of a six-month trial.

More than 70 bin baskets and cradles, across over 40 locations in the LGA, are being installed on existing public space bins as a part of the NSW Return and Earn Bin Basket Program.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to place eligible drink bottles and cans into the baskets, instead of the bin.

The containers in the baskets can then be collected by anyone in the community and taken to a refund point to receive the 10-cent return, helping to support recycling efforts across Campbelltown.

"This is a practical way for people to choose recycling on the go. By recycling eligible containers over binning, them, residents are helping reduce waste to landfill, support recycling and even help community groups or individuals collecting," said Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Darcy Lound.

"Small actions can have a big impact. Every container placed in a basket helps reduce waste, limit landfill and creates an opportunity for individuals or community members to benefit from the 10-cent return," said Cr Lound.

With $1.65million in container refunds currently going unclaimed in Campbelltown each year, the Exchange for Change baskets provide a convenient recycling option while helping keep public spaces clean and green.
