Double Trouble For Melbourne Motorist

A motorist has got himself in double trouble after attracting the attention of the same police officer twice in three days in metropolitan Melbourne.

The man was first intercepted by members of the Road Policing Drug and Alcohol Section as part of routine patrols along Batman Avenue in Melbourne, about 11pm on Friday 27 June.

The driver was subjected to a preliminary breath test, returning a positive result. He later returned an alleged evidentiary reading of .10.

His licence was immediately suspended and his vehicle was impounded at a cost of $999.52.

Only days later, the same 28-year-old Southbank man was observed driving a motor vehicle through a breath testing site on High Street in Glen Iris, about 8pm on Sunday 29 June.

Unfortunately for this motorist, despite allegedly claiming he'd left his licence at home, he was dealing with the same police officer he'd dealt with less than 48 hours prior.

He was charged on the spot with drive whilst suspended and had his second vehicle impounded for 30 days at a cost of $853.30.

The man is also expected to be charged on summons with drink driving and face court in relation to both matters.
