Rockhampton Regional Council has commenced drainage upgrades at the South Rockhampton Cemetery.
The cemetery remains open to the public during the works with access available via the Upper Dawson Road, Prospect Street and Curtis Park entrances.
The entrance to Ferguson Street will be closed for the duration of the project, and the worksite fenced off to ensure public safety.
To protect gravesites along the drainage channel, Council has secured the necessary heritage approvals and has implemented measures to minimise disruption.
The project involves reshaping the existing drain with minor excavation works to improve water flow and is expected to be completed by the end of June, weather permitting.
