Drama teacher charged over sex assault in Sydney

A man has been charged following investigations into the alleged sex assault of a woman 12 years ago.

Detectives at Kings Cross Police Area Command formed Strike Force Feurte in September 2019, after receiving information about the alleged sex assault in June 2009 of a 19-year-old woman.

They were told a then-15-year-old girl began taking acting lessons in 2005 in Sydney with a male drama teacher, then aged 44. The private lessons continued up to 2009.

In February 2020, a search warrant was executed at a home on Chamber Avenue, Bondi; multiple communications devices, storage devices and video tapes were seized and taken for forensic examination.

Following extensive inquiries, a 60-year-old man was arrested at Waverley Police Station about 9am yesterday (Thursday 10 June 2021).

The man has now been charged with sexual intercourse without consent. He's been given conditional bail and will appear in the Downing Centre Local Court Tuesday 13 July 2021.

Inquiries are continuing under Strike Force Feurte.
