Drink driver caught after late night shop in Carnegie

A woman has booked herself a court date after being detected drink driving in Carnegie overnight.

Officers spotted a Toyota Yaris sedan, with no headlights turned on, struggling to perform U-turn outside a convenience store on Blackwood Street about 10.45pm.

Police activated their lights and sirens, but the driver didn't stop and continued about 350 meters up the road before eventually pulling over outside a home.

The driver, a 57-year-old Carnegie woman, underwent a breath test and provided an alleged reading on 0.181.

The woman was requested to accompany police to a police station for an evidentiary breath test, but she refused.

Refusal to accompany police for a breath test carries up to a two-year loss of licence.

She is expected to charged on summons for numerous traffic and drink driving offences.
