Families can once again enjoy Jingili Water Gardens playground, with the shade sail and its integrated artwork now restored and the playground fully reopened.
The restoration works were completed following damage to the shade sail, with the artwork carefully reinstated as part of the works.
Lord Mayor Peter Styles said the restored shade sail was a great outcome for the playground.
"This shade sail is particularly special as it features beautiful artwork created by local artists, and it's fantastic to see it restored and looking great again," Mr Styles said.
"The artwork is called Gurambai Magical Mangroves and showcases the talent of local artists, as well as bringing a strong sense of place to the playground.
"All restoration works and final safety inspections are now complete, and the playground is ready for the community to enjoy," he said.
Gurambai Magical Mangroves was created by the Free Space Studio Collective, featuring artists Abigail Marangurra, Angelique Martin, Joanne Van Roden, Samantha Callaghan, Tara Darcy and Wendy Lamble and guided by Creative Producer Amina McConvell from Arts Access Darwin.
The shade sail formed part of a broader upgrade to Jingili Water Gardens Regional Playground, which delivered an inclusive play space designed to provide opportunities for children of all abilities to play, explore and connect.
