Drink Driver Crashes At Waterloo Corner

A drink driver crashed into a paddock at Waterloo Corner overnight.

Police and emergency services were called to Port Wakefield Road, Waterloo Corner about 12.45am on Sunday 11 October by reports a car had left the road out of control.

Witnesses also reported the vehicle had been travelling at speed on the wrong side of the North-South motorway before the crash.

The patrol located the vehicle about 100 metres off the road in a nearby paddock.

The driver, a 35-year-old Eyre man, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.169 - more than three times the legal limit.

He was reported for drink driving and aggravated driving in a manner dangerous to the public. He was issued with a 12-month immediate loss of licence and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

His vehicle was towed from the scene due to collision damage.
