Driver caught travelling 189km/h in Mittagong

A man has been fined more than $2300, had his registration plates seized and license suspended after he was allegedly detected travelling at 189km/h in the Southern Highlands, NSW Police say.

Just after 11pm today, officers attached to Mittagong Traffic and Highway Command were conducting stationary speed enforcement on the Hume Motorway when they allegedly detected a Jeep Grand Cherokee SR/T four-wheel drive travelling at 189km/h in the sign posted 110km/h speed zone.

Officers stopped the vehicle and issued the 32-year-old driver from Sydney with a traffic infringement notice for exceed speed over 45km/h.

The man was also issued with a licence suspension notice for six months, the registration plates on his vehicle confiscated and vehicle registration cancelled for three months.
