Driver Charged in Fatal Mid North Coast Bike Crash

A driver has been charged following a crash where a bicyclist died after being hit by a truck in the state's Mid North Coast region late last year.

Just after 6am on Monday 22 December 2025, emergency services were called to the southbound lanes on the Pacific Highway, Bulahdelah, following reports a cyclist had been struck by a truck.

NSW Ambulance attempted to treat the cyclist, a 20-year-old man, however he died at the scene.

The truck driver – a 58-year-old man – was taken to Manning Base Hospital at Taree for mandatory testing.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances of the crash commenced.

Following an investigation by officers from the Mid North Coast Crash Investigation Unit, about 2.15pm yesterday (Tuesday 21 April 2026), the 58-year-old man was issued with a Court Attendance Notice for dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death.

The man is expected to appear at Taree Local Court on Tuesday 21 July 2026.

The man's driver's licence was also suspended.
