Driver detected 60km/h over limit - Ashfield

A man has been caught allegedly exceeding the speed limit by 60km/h in Sydney's inner west.

About 4.45pm yesterday (Wednesday 26 August 2020), officers attached to Burwood Highway Patrol were conducting speed enforcement duties on Parramatta Road, Ashfield, when they detected a white Mercedes Benz allegedly travelling at 120km/h in a marked 60km/h zone.

Police stopped and spoke to the 20-year-old driver, who produced a red P2 provisional licence.

Officers immediately suspended the man's driver's licence for six months for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h.

The man was issued with a traffic infringement notice and his registration plates were confiscated for a period on three months.
