A driver has died in hospital following a crash earlier this month on the state's Mid North Coast.
About 10.20am on Saturday 9 May 2026, emergency services were called to King Creek Road, King Creek, about 3.5km south of Wauchope, following reports of a crash.
Officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District attended and found that a Mazda utility and a MG sedan had collided near the Oxley Highway exit.
The driver of the MG – a 37-year-old woman – was extracted from her car before being treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for serious head and facial injuries at the scene.
She was then taken to Port Macquarie Hospital before being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.
The driver of the Mazda – a 32-year-old woman – was also taken to Port Macquarie Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police established a crime scene and an investigation – with assistance from Crash Investigation Unit officers – was commenced.
About 5.30pm yesterday (Friday 15 May 2026), police were told the 37-year-old had died in hospital.
A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
