Driver dies after head-on crash in Sydney's south-west

A man has died following a crash in Sydney's south-west last night.

About 8.00pm (Sunday 13 February 2022), emergency services were called to Springfield Road, Catherine Field, following reports of a head-on crash between two vehicles.

The driver of one of the vehicles, a man believed to be aged in his 50s, was declared deceased at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.

The driver of a white Mercedes sedan, a man believed to be aged in his 30s, was arrested by police and taken to hospital for mandatory drug testing.

Officers from Camden Police Area Command established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist forensic police.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
