Driver flees scene of serious crash at Chifley

An investigation is underway into a serious crash in Sydney's east, in which the driver fled the scene.

About 2.10am (Saturday 27 July 2019), a Mazda sedan was travelling on Burke Street, Chifley, when it collided with a parked Toyota Hiace.

Two male passengers, believed to be aged in their 20s, were trapped in the vehicle for a period of time before being freed.

One was taken to St George Hospital in a critical condition. The other was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.

The driver of the car, as well another passenger, fled the scene after the crash.

A crime scene has been established and will be examined by officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.
