Driving Investment and Creating Jobs: Lawler to Advocate for Territory Business in US

The Minister will meet with a large US Defence supplier, to support the case for the Territory as the best place to base and maintain their fleet of helicopters.

Discussions will be held with industry about the opportunities and challenges relating to the onshore oil and gas industry in the Territory.

The Minister will also visit an active well site, processing and fractionation facility, and a pipeline construction site.

The Minister departs Darwin today and returns 21 November 2019. Travel and accommodation costs for the Minister for Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics and one staff member is:

Flights

$23,287.02

Accommodation

$6,099.02

As stated by the Minister for Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics, Eva Lawler:

"Driving jobs and investment opportunities in the Territory is a major priority for this Government. Opportunities like this not only work to strengthen international relationships, but to attract business here.

"More and more people are looking for safe and secure places to store their data, and Darwin is uniquely poised to take advantage of this opportunity with land available and reliable cheap energy to use – that's why this opportunity is so important to the Territory and why we are doing it.

"We will build awareness of the strategic opportunity to provide digital services to the South East Asian markets from Darwin and further promote the NT is open for business – providing opportunities and partnerships to drive our economy and create jobs."
