Officers from the Bundaberg Highway Patrol have charged a 55-year-old Rockhampton man and a 51-year-old Kepnock man with drug and drink driving, respectively, during patrols this week.
Around 7.45am on 10 November, police stopped a Mitsubishi Outlander for a roadside breath test (RBT) on Walla Street, Bundaberg Central.
The driver, a 51-year-old Kepnock man, recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.146 per cent - approximately 2.9 times the legal limit.
He was charged with one count of drink driving and is due to appear in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on 11 December.
Around 6pm on 11 November, police intercepted a semitrailer on the Bruce Highway in Booyal, after observing the vehicle allegedly travelling at 100km/h in an 80km/h zone.
The driver, a 55-year-old Rockhampton man, was subjected to a roadside drug test (RDT) and allegedly returned a positive result for methylamphetamine.
He was charged with one count of drug driving and is due to appear in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court on 9 January 2026.
He was also issued a Traffic Infringement Notice (TIN) for exceeding the speed limit by 20km/h, which carries three demerit points and a $500 fine.
Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is a proven contributor to serious and fatal traffic crashes as it impacts your ability to judge distance and speed, reduces your co-ordination and concentration, and distorts your perception of time, place and space.
The Queensland Police Service is committed to reducing the number of lives lost on our roads.
Data shows that serious crashes can be significantly reduced when drivers recognise and avoid the 'Fatal Five' behaviours: speeding, drink and drug driving, not wearing seatbelts, fatigue and distraction.
