Drug charges at Eton

Mackay police have charged a man with drug offences following the search of an Eton property.

Detectives from Mackay District Tactical Operations carried out the search of the Kinchant Dam Road address yesterday, where it will be alleged a quantity of dangerous drugs including methylamphetamine, cocaine and cannabis along with drug paraphernalia was located.

It will be further alleged police were forced to chase a man, who tried to flee the scene as the warrant was being carried out.

He was arrested moments later in nearby bushland.

A 44-year-old Kinchant Dam man has since been charged with 11 offences including one count of trafficking (methylamphetamine).

He has also been charged with three counts of possession of dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine, cocaine and cannabis) and one count each of possessing anything used in the commission of a crime (phones, scales, cryovac machine and clip seal bags), possession of utensils used in the connection of smoking dangerous drugs (glass pipes, water pipes and grinder), possession of property suspected of being the proceeds under the Drugs Misuse Act, fail to properly dispose of a needle, obstruct police, unlawful possession of a weapon category R (anti-personnel spray substance) and acquiring restricted items (nunchaku).

He is scheduled to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court today (June 3).
