Drug dealer asleep at wheel, South Australia

Thanks to calls from the public, police arrested an allegedly drug-affected man with a commercial quantity of methamphetamine in his car at West Lakes last night.

Just after 6pm on Thursday 20 May, patrols attended the car park of a fast food outlet at West Lakes after numerous calls from the public concerned about a man driving under the influence who was now asleep at the wheel of a parked car.

A search of the man's car allegedly revealed approximately 130 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine.

The 38-year-old Campbelltown man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving unlicensed, breach of bail and trafficking in a commercial quantity of a controlled drug.

He was refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court today.

The BMW sedan was seized for further forensic examination.
