Drug offences - Victoria River Region

Northern Territory Police have seized 83 grams of cannabis believed intended for sale in a remote community.

Yesterday, police searched a bag belonging to two females, aged 31 and 77, after they disembarked a flight in the remote Victoria River Region.

Three tightly wrapped packages were found concealed within clothing, each containing cannabis with a combined weight of 83 grams.

Superintendent Kirk Pennuto said, "NT police continue to proactively target the introduction of alcohol and illicit substances through compliance checks on incoming flights from Darwin into remote communities and we are disappointed people continue to attempt to bring illicit substances into vulnerable communities".

The two woman are yet to be charged.
