Drug seizure - Tiwi Islands 27 August

Northern Territory Police have seized a traffickable amount of cannabis on the Tiwi Islands.

Police had been investigating reports of illegal drinking at a residence on Wednesday 25 August, and while conducting a cursory search under the Liquor Act, discovered what appeared to be drug paraphernalia.

Police obtained a warrant to continue the search and subsequently located:

  • 437 individual 'foil' deal portions
  • 1 x large clip seal bag containing cannabis - approximately 26 grams
  • cash of various denominations.

A 28-year-old man has been issued a Notice to Appear for:

  • Possess cannabis trafficable quantity
  • Supply cannabis in Aboriginal community

Two other people at the property were issued liquor infringement notices.
