Drugs and firearm seized; woman charged - Operation Vipers

A 68-year-old woman has been charged with allegedly supplying drugs and possessing a firearm following investigations by a specialist operation in Sydney's south.

Operation Vipers is an effort led by detectives attached to St George Police Area Command to investigate and disrupt the supply of illicit drugs in the St George area.

In August, detectives attached to Operation Vipers commenced inquiries into suspected drug supply from a Hurstville home.

Just after midday yesterday (Thursday 5 September 2019), a search warrant was executed – with the assistance of Central Metropolitan Region's Operation Odin, and the Dog Unit – at the Lyle Street home, where a 68-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Kogarah Police Station.

Upon searching the home, police seized cannabis, methylamphetamine, a revolver, taser, scales, and mobile phones.

The woman was charged with supply prohibited drug (x2), possess prohibited drug (x9), possession of unauthorised pistol, owner/occupier allow knowingly allow use as drug premises, and recklessly deal with proceeds of crime.

She was refused bail to appear before Sutherland Local Court today (Friday 6 September 2019).
