Griffith City Council is pleased to announce dual Olympian Alexandra Moore will serve as the official Australia Day Ambassador for 2026.
Alexandra, who made history as the first Commonwealth athlete to win gold medals in two different sports, brings an inspiring story of perseverance and achievement to this year's celebrations.
Her accomplishments include gold in gymnastics at the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games and gold in diving at the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games, along with multiple silver and bronze medals at Commonwealth Games, World Cups and World Championships.
Alongside her sporting career, Alexandra completed a Bachelor of Applied Science in Occupational Therapy and a Master of Health Science at The University of Sydney. She is now a Director at Motion Occupational Therapy, works as a Rehabilitation Consultant in Sydney and is an ambassador for the Olympics Unleashed Program.
Alexandra is also a strong advocate for creativity and its mental health benefits, encouraging creative expression to support wellbeing.
"I was once just a little girl from Coffs Harbour. "If I can achieve my dreams, so can you," Alexandra said.
Griffith City Council looks forward to welcoming Alexandra as part of its Australia Day celebrations which will take place on Monday 26 January 2026 at the Griffith Regional Theatre at 10.30am.
