CITATIONS – DUBBO AUSTRALIA DAY AWARDS
CITIZEN OF THE YEAR – Susanne (Sue) Gavenlock: Sue was nominated for the award in recognition of her exceptional commitment to the Dubbo community, especially for her tireless work as President of Pink Angels Inc.
In 2011, together with five other women, Sue founded the not-for-profit organisation, Pink Angels Inc. The charity was born from the perceived need to provide practical assistance to women and men who are trying to navigate surgery and treatment following a diagnosis of breast cancer. She is now the only foundation member active within the charity.
Sue has been an inspirational, passionate and dedicated leader for 10 years, and has given 14-and-a-half years of continuous service to Pink Angels.
She works tirelessly to ensure that breast cancer patients have access to whatever assistance or services they might require. At any given time, Pink Angels supports up to 50 patients, and over a 12-month period that number can be around 100.
