Durham Chapel Choirs Unite for Charity Concert

Chapel choirs from across the University are joining forces to fundraise for for RTMinds, a Durham-based mental health charity.

Students at Durham sing in and organise choirs at college and university levels. Over 87% of our students engage, participate, excel and give back in a prolific variety of extra-curricular events, programmes and activities. A choir in a cathedral

Seven college chapel choirs will be amassing for this special concert. The celebratory programme will showcase their unique blend of voices and characters with some of their most exciting repertoire from across the year.

A choir in a chapelThe massed choirs collaborating will perform timeless and beloved choral classics, including Hubert Parry's I Was Glad, bringing together 80 voices and filling the chapel with joyous harmony.

Second-year Cameron Davies, Director of Chapel Music at St Chad's College describes taking part in this collaboration:

"I am particularly thrilled that this event will support RTMinds, a fantastic charity that provides refreshingly warm and inviting support. Our choice to work with this charity is not only because of their ground-breaking work but also because it resonates with us as singers so deeply, proving that the Arts are an invaluable thing to help us through difficult times, and I hope that this comes across in the concert."

"We are delighted to be working closely with RTMinds, a cause selected by the choirs in recognition of their incredible mental health work, and we look forward to continuing to develop meaningful partnerships with local charities. This concert also reflects our continued commitment to strengthening collaboration between music societies across the university, fostering connection, creativity, and collective impact through music."

The concert takes place at Durham School Chapel on 21 June at 7.30pm.
