Folowing a decade of financial mismanagement under Labor, Victoria has the highest
unemployment rate of any state, the most debt, the worst credit rating and is the hardest
place in the nation to do business.
Household income in Victoria is now second last in the country. We are 10% below the national average for household income.
Since 2014, Labor has introduced or increased more than 60 new taxes and charges meaning higher cost of living pressure, less money for business to invest and grow and an overall weaker economy.
Victoria's net debt is growing by $2 mi lion an hour and is expected to reach $194 bi lion by
mid-2029. With each hour of debt, 22 police officers, 19 nurses or 24 teachers could be
employed a year.
Over this period, interest repayments on this debt wi l exceed $1 mi lion an hour. Money that
should be going towards better frontline community services - more police officers,
teachers, nurses and paramedics - or to helping to reduce the cost of living pressures on
hardworking Victorian households and business through lower taxes.
