Moira Shire Council advises that Louis Hamon Park, east of Melville Street in Numurkah will be temporarily closed from Tuesday 06 January until mid-February 2026 to allow safe construction works as part of Stage 1 of the Numurkah Northern Levee Project.
The closure is necessary to progress critical flood protection infrastructure that will enhance community safety and resilience. Pedestrian detour signage will be in place, and we ask all park users to avoid the fenced construction zones for their own safety.
Moira Shire Council's Chair Administrator Dr Graeme Emonson PSM appreciates the community's patience during this short-term inconvenience.
"This project is a vital investment in Numurkah's future flood preparedness. While we understand the temporary closure may cause some disruption, these works will deliver long-term benefits for residents and businesses. We thank everyone for their understanding and cooperation as we work to complete this important stage," Dr Emonson said.
