There's nothing quite like seeing a child's face light up when a tractor, bus or train goes by, and the excitement was no different when a JR Richards garbage truck rolled in during a visit to the Environmental Learning Facility (ELF).
The group of four-year-olds from Bright Sparks Child Development Centre not only learntabout the importance of recycling and which bin to use, but they were also treated to a very special experience. Each child had the chance to get up close, taking turns sitting in the cab of the truck alongside JR Richards driver Michael.
"We are more than happy to be involved in educational activities that spread the message about waste reduction and maximising recycling," JR Richards Regional Manager Brian Tarrant said.
"The look on some of those kids' faces was priceless. Kids really do love garbage trucks!"
The garbage truck demonstration was just one element on offer at the ELF.
Through interactive displays, group workshops, activities and tours, and meeting room facilities, the ELF aims to improve environmental awareness, with a major focus on sustainable lifestyle choices.
