Emergency crews responding to fatal house fire in Mooroolbark

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal house fire which occurred in Mooroolbark last night.

Emergency services were called to an address in Maralee Drive after reports of a house fire around 9pm.

Fire crews entered the premises and located a woman with injuries to her stomach and two unconscious children.

All were removed from the premises and the fire was extinguished.

Ambulance crews treated the woman and children, but the woman died at the scene.

A boy and a girl sustained smoke inhalation and are in a critical but stable condition in hospital, where their father is present.

The exact circumstances leading up to the fire are still being determined, however police are not looking for anyone else at this time.
