DTU is participating in this year's Folkemødet —the People's Democratic Festival on Bornholm with a team of sharp debaters who will discuss current topics such as sustainability, critical technologies, and education and research policy. They will be joined by experts, politicians, and other participants in the Tech Tent (B1) on Strandvejen in Allinge.
Among other things, we will discuss how we can prevent research and academic knowledge from being drowned out by social media noise and political spin—and why it is important that Europe and Denmark are at the forefront of the race for critical technologies. Director for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Senior Vice President Marianne Thellersen will participate in the opening debate in the Tech Tent.
"I'm looking forward to some inspiring days on Bornholm, where we will have the opportunity to discuss important issues facing society with ministers, decision-makers, and organizations from across Denmark. In the Tech Tent, we will focus on the most critical topics of our time and invite debate, reflection, and joint solutions," says DTU Rector Anders Bjarklev.
Wind-powered car and brewery
As always, the Tech Tent is not just about debates and opinions. This year, you can hear about DTU's wind-powered car which has brought home numerous international awards. You can also charge your phone from one of our solar chargers, and have a chat with some talented people from DTU over a glass of research-based beer from the DTU Brewery incubator.
The Tech Tent also invites you to a nice knitting event, where we will explore with the audience what happens to our understanding of technology when viewed through a few stitches. Can knitting teach us anything about digital literacy, sustainability, and gender roles? Finally, you can join us at the Science Bar and witness the battle to see who will rule the heavy metal. The duelists select their favourite heavy metal songs while discussing their experiences in the world of research.
The opening night will be capped off with a huge party, as always with Danish Minister for the Environment Magnus Heunicke co-DJing with a number of secret guest DJs.
The Tech Tent is organized by DTU, Aalborg University, Aarhus University, IDA, and Engineer the Future.
