Ensuring safety of international students

International students are welcome in Australia and all students should be safe on campus and in the wider community.

Our Government wants to ensure all students who come to Australia are living in a safe, supportive environment.

This national consultation will now be expanded to also look at ways to better ensure the physical safety of students.

The Federal Government is working closely with state and territory governments and education providers to ensure Australia is a safe and welcoming country for international students.

Violence against international students is a high priority for all levels of government and law enforcement.

Australia is known around the world as a safe and secure study destination with 95 per cent of international students rating their personal safety and security as one of the reasons they have chosen to study in Australia.
