The new EcoCentre building, delivered through a partnership between the City of Port Phillip and the Victorian Government, will enhance the EcoCentre's capacity to run sustainability programs and expand Council's environmental services for the community. City of Port Phillip and the Victorian Government have each contributed half of the $6.7 million required for the redevelopment, covering planning, design, and construction phases. Additionally, the Port Phillip EcoCentre has made an in-kind contribution of $200,000, which includes furniture and 'soft' landscaping of the building surrounds.
Mayor Alex Makin welcomed Minister for Environment Steve Dimopoulos and Member for Albert Park Nina Taylor to mark the occasion and commemorate the partnership.

The day began with a Welcome to Country by Uncle Willie Pepper, followed by a vibrant program featuring a climate choir, building tours, electric vehicle displays, wildlife encounters, pedal-powered smoothies and stalls from local environmental groups.
EnviroFest also marked 26 years of the Port Phillip EcoCentre, which has been supported by Council since its establishment in 1999. The redeveloped facility offers exciting new community spaces designed to foster environmental initiatives for generations to come.
Congratulations to the EcoCentre and our sustainability community for a successful event, and we look forward to working together into the future.
