The Finocchiaro CLP Government is inviting expressions of interest for the roles of Chairperson and Commissioner representing community interests on the NT Legal Aid Commission.
The Commission is an independent body established under the Legal Aid Act 1990 to ensure Territorians are represented in their time of need.
Attorney-General Marie-Clare Boothby said the appointments come at a pivotal time for Legal Aid NT, as the CLP Government continues to deliver on its year of action, certainty and security.
"Legal Aid NT is undergoing a period of renewal and reform, backed by the CLP Government's multi-year funding agreement and our clear commitment to improving justice outcomes across the Territory," Ms Boothby said.
"We're seeking respected leaders with integrity, strong community insight, and a passion for delivering smarter, more sustainable legal services."
The Commission's responsibilities include assisting vulnerable Territorians, working with the private legal profession, expanding access to legal support across the Territory, and promoting legal education in the community.
"These appointments are a chance to help shape the future of legal service delivery in the Territory and build a fairer, more effective justice system," Ms Boothby said.
"I thank the outgoing members for their valued service and contribution over the years."
Expressions of interest are encouraged from individuals with experience in legal practice (a minimum of five years is required for the Chairperson role), as well as those with demonstrated expertise in business, strategic leadership, governance, or community representation.
