Clarence Valley Council is inviting Expressions of Interest from qualified operators to manage its new regional arts centre set to officially open in mid-2027.
The new centre is an exciting investment in the region's cultural future offering the right operator a unique opportunity to get involved early to establish a flagship cultural venue in one of Australia's most vibrant regional creative economies.
Clarence Valley Council General Manager, Laura Black, said that Council redeveloped the Maclean Hall into an iconic river-based arts centre that has the potential to be a major drawcard for the Clarence Valley, and broader region.
"This venue has been designed to celebrate the Clarence Valley's rich cultural and artistic talent, while helping address a clear gap in regional touring infrastructure.
"It will provide access to new and emerging audiences, at a scale that supports flexible, sustainable and manageable programming.
"As a compact regional touring facility, it has the potential to support long-term growth for artists, organisations and the wider community.
"Council is now seeking the right partner to bring a strong vision to the venue and help establish it as a thriving cultural centre from the outset," Ms Black said.
A stand-out strength of the venue is its thoughtfully crafted design by Nimbus Architecture and Heritage, developed in consultation with Setting Lines. Purpose built to provide exceptional cultural experience the venue will also be touring-ready, opening the door to a dynamic mix of performances, private hire opportunities, business events and ceremonies.
"Key features of the Centre include: a 297-seat tiered auditorium and versatile 10m x 7m stage, industry standard audio-visual equipment, backstage amenities and efficient backstage access,
"Additional spaces support rehearsals, workshops, meetings and flexible uses for increased access and participation,
"A separate café/restaurant creates an opportunity for a flagship dining experience, overlooking the Clarence River, building on the visitor experience," Ms Black said.
The Expression of Interest is open until 30 July 2026.
