EOI process opens to reinvigorate Market Hall at Yagan Square

  • State Government seeking new options for a reconfigured Market Hall at Yagan Square
  • Expression of interest process invites proponents to register their interest for alternate uses of the internal Market Hall space
  • Reconfiguration works underway to unlock Market Hall in preparation for change
  • The State Government is calling for expressions of interest for exciting new uses of the Market Hall at Yagan Square, with works now underway to prepare the space for alternative uses.

The EOI process, to be managed by DevelopmentWA, is now open and invites suitable proponents to lodge a submission outlining their interest in the central business district premises, demonstrating how they can activate the precinct.

The reinvigorated premises are expected to be suitable for uses including commercial, entertainment, cultural and community-driven proposals that will integrate with the broader Perth City Link development.

The reconfiguration works will involve the relocation of existing Market Hall operators to external-facing tenancies, improving accessibility and visibility to passing foot traffic.

Fit-outs of these new tenancies will soon be underway, with operators expected to reopen their doors in their new premises during October.

DevelopmentWA is working closely with traders to minimise disruption to their businesses during this transition period.

Expressions of interest in the Market Hall space at Yagan Square close on September 24.

As stated by Lands Minister Tony Buti:

"Yagan Square remains one of the best locations in the CBD and will continue to improve over time as further developments take place such as the ECU City Campus.

"With some future tweaks the Market Hall site between Perth's central business district, Northbridge and the main bus and train stations will be an exceptionally vibrant and buzzing part of our city.

"The repositioning of Market Hall and EOI process allows us to identify all potential future uses for the space, while at the same time supporting existing traders and giving their businesses the best chance of success.

"The EOI process opens up an exciting opportunity for the right proponent to revitalise this space, together with all the benefits that come with being a part of a major public space and tourist destination."
