About 1.35am, police sighted a red Nissan Navara utility bearing false registration plates travelling on South West Highway near Eleventh Road. Officers activated emergency lights and sirens, signalling for the driver to stop. It will be alleged the driver accelerated away at high speed, resulting in an evade police incident.
The pursuit was terminated for public safety reasons after the driver allegedly crossed onto the incorrect side of the road and continued at high speed.
Around 1.50am, the Nissan was sighted on Ranford Road in Southern River. It will be further alleged the driver again failed to stop for police when called upon, crossed onto the incorrect side of the road and extinguished the vehicle's headlights while continuing at high speed through Huntingdale, Gosnells and Maddington.
The Police Air Wing helicopter was deployed to the area, where crew located and tracked the vehicle to a home on Bertram Street. It will be alleged the Nissan pulled into the driveway and crashed at low speed into the rear of a vehicle parked in an open carport, causing significant damage.
The driver exited the Nissan and surrendered to police, where he was taken into custody.
