Evade Police Arrests - Bentley / St James

Gosnells Police have charged two people after the vehicle they were in failed to stop for officers in Bentley this morning, Saturday 15 January 2022.
About 12:55am today officers on patrol sighted a Hyundai Elantra being driven on Chapman Road, Bentley. It has since been established the vehicle was stolen during a burglary in Balga sometime after 11:45pm last night.
An attempt to stop the vehicle was made due to the manner in which it was being driven, however it will be alleged the driver failed to stop.
A short time later the driver of the stolen vehicle lost control of the vehicle on Berwick Street, St James, leaving the road and crossing through two properties, damaging side fences, letterboxes and front gardens. The vehicle entered a third front yard and struck a tree and a parked vehicle. The female driver and male passenger both received serious injuries and were taken to Royal Perth Hospital by St John Ambulance.
The driver, a 20-year-old woman, has been charged with:
- Steal Motor Vehicle and Drive Recklessly
- Fail to Stop
- Reckless Driving (to evade police)
- No Authority to Drive
- Breach of Bail
She was refused bail and is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today, Saturday 15 January 2022.
The passenger, a 28-year-old man, has been charged with 'Steal Motor Vehicle' and 'Possession of stolen or unlawfully obtained property'. He is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on Monday 14 February 2022.
