Everybody’s talking about playground for every body

The wonderful new all-abilities playground on Thomas Street, Hampton has set tongues wagging, social media buzzing and captured the hearts and imaginations of young and old.

To show you what all the fuss is about, we have created a video packed full of the highlights of this great Bayside facility.

Listen to Inclusion Officer at Bayside City Council Andrew Shannon explain the importance of our new playspace that every child, with every type of body can enjoy together and about the thoughtful planning, innovative design and extensive community engagement that helped create this amazing place.

Listen to the kids themselves, including Bayside’s Young Citizen of the Year Sam Higgins talk about the joy they find in the Thomas Street playground.

Take three and a half minutes to have a look at this modern alfresco fun factory, set among the trees and generous landscaping.

Play safely

Thomas Street playground is open again for Covid-safe play, with new QR codes along with our COVID Safe signage.

For now, only the under 12s can use the playground, with strict rules for parents and carers.

The new playground is a joyful space for everyone of varying abilities and age. Spitting dragons rule the splash area, a giant mouse wheel and colourful carousel cry out for curious little explorers to get aboard, gymnasts in the making can tackle the parkour course and adventurous young climbers can clamber up and through the sensational castle.
