Exercise in Box is here

Australian Cyber Security Centre

Is your business ready for a cyber incident? The Australian Signals Directorate's Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) has launched a new online tool, Exercise in a Box (EiaB). It allows you to test and practice your response to a cyber attack in a safe environment.

This specially designed tool was initially developed by the UK's National Cyber Security Centre and proved to be very successful. It was shared with ACSC and customised to help small to medium-businesses in the Australian threat environment.

Last year, the ACSC saw an increase in the number and sophistication of cyber threats facing Australia. The Australian Cyber Security Hotline receive over 25,000 calls during the last financial year, an average of 69 per day and an increase of 15% from the previous financial year. The ACSC also received over 76,000 cybercrime reports, an increase of almost 13% from the previous financial year. Ransomware remains the most destructive cybercrime threat in Australian due to its significant financial and reputational costs.

Exercise in a Box works by taking a small group of your key staff through a series of structured questions relating to an area of cyber security. By completing the exercises, you will understand the risks your organisation is currently exposed to, and what you can do to help mitigate them.

Exercise in a Box is free and easy to use, and takes the user through a series of questions and test exercises. It then generates a report highlighting where your business can improve its cyber security. It is often too late once a cyber attack has occurred, so it is very important for businesses and organisations to uplift their cyber posture early to stay secure online.
