Griffith City Council has reopened the public exhibition of its draft Section 7.12 Contributions Plan, giving the community and development industry further opportunity to review the document and provide feedback.
Due to the Christmas and New Year shutdown period, Council has determined that the original exhibition did not provide sufficient effective access time. As a result, the document will be re-exhibited to ensure procedural fairness and alignment with best-practice planning and engagement principles. The draft Plan is now on public exhibition and submissions are welcome until 4pm on Friday, 6 March 2026.
Section 7.12 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 allows Council to collect contributions from certain developments to help fund public amenities, services and infrastructure that support growth across the Griffith community.
Council's current Contributions Plan has been in place for more than 15 years and has helped deliver major community improvements including City Park, Kooyoo Street upgrades, park enhancements, car parks, footpaths and cycleways.
The draft updated Plan has been prepared in line with Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure guidelines and sets out a 20-year program of works, with around $20 million expected to be collected based on historical trends. The proposed Schedule of Works includes projects that improve the CBD, parks, playgrounds, sporting ovals, housing-supporting infrastructure and water quality at Lake Wyangan.
Griffith Mayor, Councillor Doug Curran said Section 7.12 contributions have helped fund many of the facilities our residents use every day, and this updated plan will guide how future funds are invested.
"We're inviting the community to have their say, not just on the plan itself, but on where they think these funds should be prioritised and which projects matter most to them," he said.
