A new home economics learning area upgrade at Exmouth District High School is now complete, thanks to a $2.1 million investment by the Cook Government.
The existing home economics room has been upgraded to a commercial standard complete with barista training facilities.
This upgrade will boost senior school curriculum pathways for local year 11 and 12 students.
The design was undertaken by Zuideveld Marchant Hur Architects with construction completed by Bidi Facility Services.
Construction commenced in April 2025 and was completed in September 2025.
It forms part of the Cook Government's commitment to providing quality education infrastructure for Western Australian students.
Since coming to government, the Cook Government has invested a record $5.4 billion in education infrastructure.
As stated by Education Minister Sabine Winton:
"This is a great opportunity for senior students at Exmouth District High School to have real learning opportunities in a commercial standard facility.
"A facility such as this allows students to develop their skills at a high level, helping to prepare them for employment in their local community or further training.
"This project is another example of our commitment to ensuring all Western Australian students learn in modern educational facilities that prepare them for their future."
As stated by Pilbara MLA Kevin Michel:
"I'm pleased that the Cook Government is investing in regional education through this fantastic $2.1 million upgrade at Exmouth District High School.
"Facilities like this not only give students access to hands-on, industry-standard training, but they also help strengthen pathways to local jobs and future opportunities.
"It's another strong example of our commitment to ensuring students in the Pilbara have access to modern, high-quality learning environments."
