Expert In Residence Program at Free Library

Discover, create and learn new skills with Citylibraries Townsville's Expert in Residence program.

Audio technician Natasha Lane and technology educator Andrew Schubert will be hosting free in-person sessions at Riverway Creative Hub from next Thursday to June 20 this year, showcasing cutting-edge equipment available and helping participants develop their skills.

Deputy Mayor and divisional councillor Suzy Batkovic said the workshops were a great opportunity for residents wanting to learn new skills or expand on their creative practice.

"Andrew and Natasha have been regular users of the Riverway Creative Hub at the library for years, so they really know their way around the space. Throughout their residency, they'll host guided workshops and provide on-site support for anyone keen to learn, create and experiment," Cr Batkovic said.

"The Riverway Creative Hub has a huge variety of tools to use for free, from podcasting equipment to 3D printers to sewing machines and more. The Expert in Residence program is a great way to learn more about how to use these tools and build your practical skills.

"These workshops are free and open to people of all ages and skill levels, including children, seniors and people of all abilities.

"Bookings are essential, so head to Council's website to find out more and book your spot."

Sessions with Natasha will include audio recording techniques, how to create and edit multi-voice projects and tips for audio distribution. Sessions with Andrew will include introduction to 3D print and design, intermediate 3D printing and introduction to laser cutting and design.
