Resources Victoria has approved an exploration tunnel for Southern Cross Gold's Sunday Creek Project in central Victoria, about 60 km north of Melbourne.
Southern Cross Gold is looking for intersections of high-grade gold and antimony over two exploration licences (EL7232 and EL6163) and a retention licence (RL6040). These licenses do not permit mining.
The approval of the exploration tunnel, known within the industry as a decline, will enable underground drilling on land the company owns. Once constructed, using the tunnel will reduce the community impacts, especially noise and light.
This work plan approval demonstrates Resources Victoria is continuing to assist explorers to find mineral resources, while reducing the community impacts of exploration activity.
