Art lovers everywhere can enjoy an online wander through more than 2 00 works from the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre (CPAC) collection with the pieces now featured in digital form on the venue's website.
The highlights from CPAC's extensive collection of more than 1500 works include pieces from Australian contemporary artists such as Ken Done, George Gittoes, Judy Watson and Guan Wei.
The digital gallery also highlights recent acquisitions and other pieces from local Liverpool artists, including 116 artworks by Casula-based artist Gina Sinozich, who died in June.
"This wonderful initiative ensures a huge part of CPAC's extensive collection is now available to people everywhere," Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said.
"It's a real delight to let your fingers do the walking, and explore the collection so easily from home, school, university or wherever you might be.
"And it's especially lovely to see Gina Sinozich's beautiful work featured so prominently."
CPAC Director Craig Donarski said the move would allow a wider audience to discover local artists such as Sinozich.
"Gina's life and stories will live on through her works, and with access to CPAC's collection online, they are now there for everybody to enjoy, appreciate and reflect upon," Mr Donarski said.
"This is the ideal way to highlight the artistic community that shines so brightly here in the Liverpool area."
An exhibition featuring a selection of works from the online collection website will open at CPAC on 5 September and a major exhibition of Sinozich's work is scheduled for early 2021.
CPAC has been accepted into the separate Google Arts and Culture program with many of its works set to be made available via the web giant's platform later this year.
