Extradition - Historic Sex offences - Alice Springs

Detectives from the Child Abuse Taskforce Alice Springs, with the assistance of NSW Police Child Abuse Unit have extradited a 40-year-old man from New South Wales on historical sexual offences.

It is alleged that in Alice Springs between June 2010 and 2011 the man assaulted a female, who was a child at the time of the offending.

He has been charged with two counts of sexual intercourse with a child under 10 years of age, and one count of Indecent dealings with a child under 10 years of age.

"It was as a result of the good working relationship between the New South Wales Police Child Abuse Unit and the Northern Territory Police Child Abuse Taskforce that this case is now before the courts," said Detective Sergeant Gavin Hopwood.

The man arrived in Alice Springs yesterday and has been remanded to appear before the Alice Springs Local Court on Monday February 4.
