Failto comply with a direction

A 56-year-old woman has been charged by Police in relation to an incident in Perth in which she refused to wear a face mask, which resulted in her being arrested and refused bail.

Around 11.30am on Tuesday 29 June 2021, while Perth and Peel are subject to an emergency direction to wear face masks, it will be alleged officers located the woman sitting on a bench on Barrack Street.
Officers approached her, explained the face mask requirement to her and offered her a free face mask. It will be alleged the woman refused to wear the face mask. Another request was made before she was arrested, charged and refused bail.
The 56-year-old woman of no fixed address was charged with:-
• Fail to Comply with a Direction (Emergency Management Act, 2005).
She appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court today and has been remanded in custody and is next due to appear in court on 5 July 2021
