Far North QLD Braces for Cyclone Narelle

Police are reminding Queenslanders to act now in preparation for Tropical Cyclone Narelle, which is due to make landfall between the Lockhart River and Lizard Island during Friday, 20 March.

With Tropical Cyclone Narelle forecast to reach Category 5 intensity prior to making landfall, residents are urged to stay vigilant and to remain informed with warnings and messages from authorities.

Queenslanders are also encouraged to make early considerations and preparations ahead of the system's expected crossing early Friday, with officers conducting welfare checks on residents, including those in remote communities.

Motorists in flood affected areas are asked to avoid unnecessary travel and urged to never drive through flood waters. Your car cannot keep you safe. If it's flooded, forget it.
