Labor's streamlined planning pathway has fast-tracked hundreds of new homes at the former Cadbury building site.
Minister for Planning Sonya Kilkenny has fast-tracked 402 new homes at 636 St Kilda Road.
This will deliver a mix of one, two and three-bedroom homes in one of Melbourne's best-connected locations
Residents will have easy access to five different tram routes, Albert Park Lake, The Alfred Hospital, and jobs and services along St Kilda Road and Chapel Street.
The project was fast-tracked through Labor's Development Facilitation Program, which streamlines the planning process for projects that deliver homes for Victorians.
The pathway has brought average approval time for projects down to four months - 10 months faster than the average council housing approval.
Jess Wilson and her Liberals want to scrap Labor's planning reforms and hand housing supply back to council blockers - meaning more delays for homes.
Our changes have delivered more new homes than any state and have made Melbourne the most affordable capital city for young renters and buyers - progress that the Liberals now promise to unwind.
As stated by Minister for Planning Sonya Kilkenny
"This is about making sure more Victorians have the opportunity to live in these great locations - close to the public transport, jobs and services they rely on."
"While we're cutting red tape to get more homes built, Jess Wilson and the Liberals want to block homes from being built, locking young Victorians out of living close to the things that matter to them."
As stated by Member for Southern Metropolitan Region John Berger
"These new homes will be right in the sweet spot -next to St Kilda Junction, trams, Albert Park Lake and the jobs and services along St Kilda Road."
"It means more people can live close to transport, close to work and close to everything people love about St Kilda and Albert Park."
