About 6:20pm, a grey Honda CRV station wagon was travelling south on Nicholson Road when it struck a male pedestrian just before the intersection with Ranford Road.
The 78-year-old pedestrian sustained critical injuries as a result of the crash and was conveyed to Fiona Stanley Hospital where he later died.
The 39-year-old male driver of the Honda was not injured and is assisting police with their inquiries.
