Fatal e-scooter crash, South Brisbane

A man hospitalised after falling from an e-scooter at South Brisbane on Wednesday has died.

Just after midnight on May 9, the man was riding south across the Victoria Bridge before falling from the scooter on the Southbank forecourt after a set of stairs.

The 50-year-old Woollongabba man was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition but passed away yesterday.

The man was wearing a helmet.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Police encourage all users to ride in a safe and respectful way, sticking to paths and giving way to pedestrians.

If unsafe use is observed, police may issue fines.
